PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtun-khwa Chief Minister’s Adviser Ziaullah Afridi has said the authorities have unearthed corruption worth millions of rupees in the Minerals Department.
Speaking to mediapersons at his office on Wednesday, he said the government had conducted an enquiry and ordered recovery of Rs200 million from those who committed corruption during the previous government, said a handout.
An immediate suspension of four officers including the then director general of Mines and Minerals Mian Farooq Iqbal, deputy director Irfanullah, deputy director Roz Amin and deputy director Yaqoob Nawaz has been recommended, he added.
He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), after coming into power, would not spare anybody charged with corruption and irregularities.The adviser added that having been given the portfolio of minerals department, he received complaints about the illegal practices and corruption cases in various sections of the department, particularly irregularities in leasing of mines.
He recommended the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to move the Provincial Inspection Team to conduct an inquiry for fixing responsibility. The inquiry recommended the recovery of Rs200 million from the corrupt elements, he added. Ziaullah Afridi said he would not allow anybody in his department to commit any sort of corruption, irregularity or favour.
