Two militants arrested in Peshawar


PESHAWAR: City police arrested two militants in Mattani wanted to police in various criminal cases and recovered arms from their possession on Thursday.
The police on a tip off, conducted raid at a house located in Mariyam Zai area of Mattni, Peshawar where the accused had taken shelter.
During operation two extremists wanted in a number of cases were detained and arms were recovered from their possession.
The police registered a case against the nabbed culprits and started the investigations.
Police claimed that these two militants were involved in several criminal cases and belong to banned outfit of Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Later on, Police shifted them to undisclosed location for thorough interrogation.
Provincial capital (Peshawar) is the gateway to Pakistan troubled northwestern tribal region where troops have been locked for years in deadly battles with insurgents while, Mattani is the gateway for militants toward provincial capital. The city has been labeled by Washington as the main sanctuary for Al Qaeda and Talibans in the country.
Meanwhile, city police repulsed militants attack on Zangali Check Post situated in Budhber, police launched search operation after the incident and held dozens of suspects.
Police claimed that unidentified militants attacked on Zangli Check post in Budbher at night and after retaliation of 30 minutes by police militants fled away from the scene successfully.
However, no causality was reported. Police registered the case and started thorough investigation.
