Yousafzai for transparent use of funds in hospitals


PESHAWAR (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health, Shaukat Ali Yusafzai directed the Chief Executives of the teaching hospitals to ensure transparent and effective use of funds released to their hospitals and other available resources in the greater interest of the public

He issued directives to the CEOs of Lady Reading Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Hayatabad Medical Complex and Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad. Initiatives should also be taken immediately to improve the system and free medical and laboratory facilities should be provided to the poor patients, he added.
This he said while chairing a high level meeting of the Institutional Management Councils at Peshawar on Thursday. Beside others Special Secretary to Health, Special Assistant to Chief Minister, Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani, Chief Executives of LRH, HMC, KTH and Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad, professors and media representatives also attended the meeting.
The Chief Executives of the said hospitals and other participants of the meeting informed the minister of the problems being faced by the people in the public sector hospitals and presented their suggestions and recommendations regarding under the process health policy of the provincial government.
The Minister agreed upon their recommendations and hoped that they would try their level best to change the system. He assured that the policy would be finalized according to the recommendations presented in the meeting.
Besides lack of facilities, cleanliness and behavior of the staff with the patients were also major problems which could be changed through regular monitoring by the council, he said. He said however, training of the staff should be ensured for professional approach.
