33 nanbais sent to jail for selling underweight loaves

PESHAWAR (APP): District administration Peshawar has accelerated crackdown against bakers (nanbais) selling under- weight Roti and shifted 33 arrested persons to prison.
According to details for the enforcement of the new rate of Roti, Deputy Commissioner (D.C) Peshawar, Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam directed all Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs) for accelerating three time action in the morning, afternoon and evening. Implementing the directives, AAC-IX, Irfanuddin conducted raids on Warsak Road, Mathra and Pir Bala Chowk and arrested 11 bakers while AAC-III, Abdul Naseer Khan apprehended 13 bakers from Hayatabd.
Similarly, AAC-VII, Mohammad Fawad conducted raids in Gulbahar and Nishtarabad and arrested 9 bakers for selling underweight Roti. All arrested bakers were presented before Deputy Commissioner, who shifted all to prison for a period of one month.
He also directed the imposition of a fine of Rs.25,000/- from each baker on their release on October 17, 2013.
Meanwhile, a common man registered complaint against Charsi Tikka Seller by showing a formal receipt, which shows that he later sold 170 gram Roti at the rare of Rs.20/.
Expressing anguish over the overcharging, Deputy Commissioner directed AAC-VII, Mohammad Fawad for taking immediate action and presentation of report to him.
